  5. i've seen a couple programs do this before, so i know it's possible to code. i'm just not sure if you can code it into source games (probably not)... any quiet point point of the game (maybe a randomly selected point) have the CD/DVD tray open. orrr... if you could tap into windows energy saving features and have the monitor turn itself off. when the player turns it back on, they find themselves in a different place. finally, when the game closes it starts another executable that runs hidden. eleven minutes and six seconds after the game is closed the ghost appears on your desktop.

I'm not sure if the inanimate object following you around is ridiculous or brilliant. it could work, depending on how you do it. imagine a trash can tips itself over and slowly rolls to you. or quickly rolls back and forth banging against walls. wow, almost 30 pages! this mod is taking too long, hen!

Did anyone see the Doctor Who episode where they were in a small pod thing and there was banging on the outside, moving closer to the airlock. building off of what you built off of what i built off... player walks into a long narrow hallway. only two doors, the one you walk in and one at the far end, maybe 20-30 feet down. the hallways should be fairly well lit, with hard-wood floors. once you step in, both doors slams shut and you hear a click as they are manually locked. after walking to the other side and trying to open the door, suddenly theres a repeditive pounding sound. starting at the far end of the hallway and moving towards you, one pound after another. floorboards bounce, hanging lights swing. imagine either something is pounding on the floorboard from below, moving towards you, or a large invisible monster is stomping down the hallway. once it reaches you, you are thrown through the locked door, which flies off it's hinges from the impact.

One thing that would be nice is if on hard difficulty it was REALLY hard, because I think the problem with some games (like DOOM 3) is that they're hardest difficulty just involves making your health constantly go down or something, which is never as fun as knowing that if you get hit once or twice then you're dead. So something like that would be great. building off that... it'd be cool to have an exclusive enemy for the hardest difficult level. like a zombie that has some sort of aura around it (hellfire on it's body or something.) moves slowly but takes several bullets to kill and kills the player in one hit. the player will be force to frantically unload on this enemy, expending valuable ammo just to barely stay alive. also, a few people have mentioned this before (maybe i have, too), the players health should not be represented with the normal HP counter. like in portal, the player should not know their exact health. heavy heartbeats or breathing would be good, so the player knows they're close to death, but they don't know how close they are.
  12. simple idea. player opens a locker and a dead body or a head falls out. maybe a dead body with the head severed but still in-place so the body falls to the ground and the head rolls right off. or this could be combined with my earlier idea, the head is a zombie head, still "alive"
  13. i like the idea of the two ghost. if that doesn't make it into NH2 i think i'd like to see it in another mod. maybe both ghost are "bad" but in different ways. one just wants to quck your world up. the other one wants to manipulate you into fulfilling it's agenda, and doesn't care about what you go through to do it.
  14. how about a TV or radio message that comes in really soft... and about four second in, right when the player is turning up the volume, something very loud happens (like the pipe busting idea i posted before)

ShaolinDave said: oh, i got one... the player walks into a room with an 8X8 checkered floor and says, "why do i get the feeling like i'm being manipulated?" the joke is that an 8x8 checkered room could be like a chess board, and the player is a "pawn" in someone else's "game". it wasn't a serious suggestion anyway. i don't want the player to have a voice either. this is a serious suggestion though. in the first nightmare house, there were beds that'd fly toward the ceiling as the player walked by. this time, how about a bed with a dead body on it, but it won't jump by itself. instead, the bed, body, and matress will all fly if the player shoots the body. i think it'd be cool. player shoots the body just in case it's about to get up and attack, then... holy shit the bed just jumped!

  17. how about this. the player loses all weapons, and is advised to sneak through the next few rooms to find something else to fight with. the next room has several zombies, but they're all preoccupied (eating someone in the corner.) you quietly make your way through the room, then something makes a loud noise and you now have to run away from the zombies you just snuck past. like maybe the door you try to open falls off it's hinges and slams to the ground.

  21. that shit got old quick. back to the subject... an NPC is about to die, and doesn't want to turn to a zombie. so... he kills himself in a way that'll destroy his body, like jumping in front of a train.
  22. in counter strike, i love the grenades, but grenades would kinda be out of place in nightmare house. just like the crowbar/knife being replaced with the axe, you'd want something that matches the overall feel of the game what would be cool is if you could use dynamite. i just don't know how it'd end up in the mental institution.
