  1. Hello everyone, Underhell has been released and I am already getting bug reports ! Which mean you are awesome in finding bugs an details, and I will definitely release a patched version once I have gathered enough bug to justify uploading the whole thing again. If you have seen any bug in the game, or anything not working, please do not hesitate to post down below ! If possible attach a screenshot of the error, bug, or glitch, and a short (or long) description of how it happened. Before posting your error, be sure to try this : Make sure to update your graphic card drivers, as Underhell makes usage of some custom shader effects. KNOWN ISSUES/CRASHES : Too many verts for a dynamic vertex buffer (xxxxxxxx>xxxxx) Tell a programmer to up VERTEX_BUFFER_SIZE This crash most often happens when ALT+TABBING the game, but it can also happen in very large areas with lot of combat happening. It is very rare, if it happens, just load your latest save and it should not happen again within the same map. Just reload and continue playing as normal. "Can't load lump 8, allocation of ******** bytes failed!!!" This is a very rare memory crash that happens after many hours of continuous play. We intend to fix it as soon as possible in a future patch. If you get this error, simply reload your latest save from the Load Game menu, and the error should not happen again. FIXED ISSUES/ CRASHES: CFileSystem_Steam::Init() failed: failed to find steam interface This is a SteamPipe related issue, unrealted to the mod itself. Head over to your Steam TOOLS list. Right click your SOURCE SDK BASE 2007 and click properties then click the BETAS tab and chose the SteamPipe beta as the beta you would like to opt into. This appears to be a drivers issue on some graphic cards. See the Black Mesa FAQ for more info. Try reducing shadows details to Medium or Low, or try disabling HDR (set it to none) If above fails try the following fix : (Warning: This fix will disable the flashlight shadows, and cause flashlights to go through walls) FIX : MAKE SURE TO DISABLE MSI AFTERBURNER BEFORE LAUNCHING THE GAME : Engine Error: Could not load library client This is most likely related to a corrupt download/extraction of the file, try re-installing or redownloading.   3. I love the idea, but as you said, finding a good dedicated artist willing to put so much time into it is a problem.
  4. During beta testing, many of the testers recorded themselves playing, unfortunately most of the videos were not published because it would have spoiled the game, we did however released one. Point is, the game is out now, and I am seeing a lot of funny scary videos of Underhell out there, and I don't know about you guys but it makes me laugh. So here is a USER videos I found, if you record a video with voice (it's better to hear you scream) or find one just post it here Let's get this list growing !
  5. He ought to make sure that the Dreamcatcher is not on, and then play through the dreams. After finishing the dreams, he has to cross the bright door at the end of the corridor.

  7. Those are things that we would want to fix. -Making sure that killing an enemy with a silencer is discreet. -Shooting at an enemy who is in Idle should do 2x the amount of damage. (Easier stealth kills) -Killing an enemy with a melee weapon while he is idle would make him die without screaming/alerting anyone nearby. Those fixes will hopefully be implemented in the Steam release.

  10. Less gore? Are you joking? In the old version bodies would explode in random parts. Now you can individually dismember every part of their bodies, drag them around and store their arms and legs in lockers. The blood is not casual, it's less exaggerated but still advanced, there are 3 types of blood decals, one for bullet hits, one for dragging bodies, and one for exploding heads (which is a blood spray that contains some brain matter in it) There are fountain of blood when you dismember a body, an even bigger fountain of blood when you blow an enemy's head off. There are dozens of new features that were not in SMOD and that are improved upon, namely the kick which allows to kick doors open, and was restrained so that you can't kick 50 times a second. You should watch these 2 videos. The slowmo is still there, what are you talking about ? It only triggers in specific parts, there was no manual usage in Prologue either. (Unless you used a cheat, which you can still do here, it's just a different CVAR.) The only feature that didn't make in was the leaning, and we do plan to add that eventually. Also, I know about BSNOOCH, and there is nothing anyone can do about SMOD without the SMOD source code, and that's just a fact, everything anyone does about SMOD is just hacks and tweaks, and it's still the old 2006 source engine with loading times over 3 minutes, there is no way to port it to a newer engine without the Source Code. The author started porting it to 2007 and then stopped, and SMOD is pretty much dead. Many some people will bring it back via some random fixes, but it will never be anything more than it used to be. So yeah, we abandoned SMOD and made our own game, that has features oriented around the game design that Underhell needs. If you want SMOD like fun, I recommend Bulletstorm PS : You owe me 50 bucks.

    What do you mean "Mad World just dropped" ? You mean you think you heard the "Mad World" piano song play in the safe room, or what ? There is indeed a piano song called "SafeRoom1.6" that has a accompanying theme that reminds "Mad World", but it is clearly still the Underhell theme.

  16. Are you sure you installed it in Sourcemods/Underhell, and not Sourcemods/Underhell/Underhell ? Make sure the installing path is right.

  18. Wait, you mean you didn't extract the file? You need to extract the content of the .7z file with Winrar or 7zip Extract the content in your SteamApps/Sourcemods folder.
  19. Make sure the mod is installed in Sourcemods/Underhell and not Sourcemods/underhell/underhell.
  20. Try verifying your Source SDK Base 2007 cache, and try re-downloading/reinstalling the game.
  21. We never really had a "concept artist" in the team. The only concepts I had were the ones I did for the levels, or reference photos I found on google, and most of them have been lost over time, aside from these 2: For future Chapters, I would like to find a concept artist to help give an artistic look to the environments in the game.

  23. That's very sad, but unfortunately we haven't tested the UI in such resolutions, none of our monitors have those resolutions available. One of the downsides of being an indie I suppose!
