how do i use the map pack!!!!

Okay i downloaded the thing it was 40 sumthing megabites. then i took the 4 files an added them to the valve/steam/steam apps//portal/portal. then i logged into portal and went onto bonus maps, clicked on import maps went to portal clicked maps and nothing happend can anyone help me?

The mappack is supposed to be there as soon as you installed it - if you need to import it, that means you didn't install it right.

Extract the map files to portal/portal/maps instead, that should make it work

Okay i uninstalled portal and then reinstalled it. i downloaded the file but it keeps coming out as 1 file and its in notepad. every time i open it it doesnt respond and shuts down what do i do?
