Scariest moment (and or most annoying) in underhell for you?

37 posts in this topic

That time in the dark when I ran RIGHT into a dude staring off into the wall, all Blair Witch style, I got spooked so bad I dropped him instantly. Then I thought "crap I killed a hostage", turns out unlike the prologue, you cant kill friendly in ch 1, which is a shame really, I've always enjoyed pissing off friendly npcs, at least I get to annoy the hell out of Matthew when he told me to stay quiet that 1 time  :bdance: . There really is no point to be so careful like that.

@Tabe, I agree with you buddy, I gave up the uber silent stealth approach, cus it just really don't make it much easier and just annoys the hell out of me, I am going to have to kill them all anyways, might as well pick a cover or a few choke points and just go with it.

The spawn for the zombies is kinda crazy tho, 20 zombies just pop out of nowhere, when clearly there cant be more than 3. But all the little annoyance got nothing compare to escorting the freaking STUPID cypher, worst 15 min of the game evaaaar.

One time the house's fuse blew up and when I went to the attic to get the spare fuse I saw she popped up in my face. By the time I got the fuse to the basement I saw her feet in the window.

I hope the fuse never breaks again.

Scariest moment

When you answer the phone in the house, a loud scream just commences and breaks all the windows.

Most annoying moment

That battle with what i like to call outsiders in the elevator lobby. Barely any cover, especially since the majority is above me and the lone trooper jumping around me. Even my sniper shotgun that can kill from 5 miles away was a little useless.

The scariest moment for me was when you woke up and finds that the prison is full of freaking zombies and you have to creep around in the dark. Scared the shit out of me.

The most annoying part is when a horde is coming and you hide in the closet and watch as 20 zombies run around in the room, looking for you and they just won't leave.

Same here. Waking up and having to navigate around the prison with no weapons, afraid to even make the slightest of noise was probably the best horror vibe I've got from this game. Sure, the house is scary sometimes, but a lot of those scares are the less subtle and more of a in your face kind of horror (Which in itself is fine, I just prefer a more traditional horror game vibe. Where there's a creepiness aspect, but more of a true general anxiety of being thrust into an unfamiliar situation with little supplies, and multiple options and paths you're not entirely sure will do.)

There's only one real annoyance I've had in the game, and that's how armor is handled.

Due to me being headshot-happy, I tend to scavenge a lot of helmets off of the Infected.

I keep imagining that Jake simply puts the hat on top of his previously worn hat, until he is wearing a pillar of damage-resistant headgear.

It's hard to be scared when this is the image running through your head, isn't it?

Scariest Part: NOTHING... I've seen them all...(I'll have you know that I only cried for 30 minutes)

Annoying Part: Hiding In a fricking closet would get you nowhere, i'm like "SCREW THIS" , run with Lucy , and jack off the zombies in front of me

LOL

And what the hell is with the multispoilers... I'm getting annoyed by it

Just kidding XD. Don't Read the next spoiler

What is both scary and annoying is when i get impatient with the zombies crowding around the locker I'm in, so i open it up and shoot them all, but then another hoard heads for me, so I need to close the locker, but I can't because a zombie leg is blocking the door! I just keep opening and closing until the leg explodes, which is often not fast enough.

For me the scariest moment was when Angelo's suddenly did show up to my face out of nowhere. And he got me trapped, I couldn't run away from him!

Mostly scary and not annoying, but the segment of containers and catwalks about halfway through exploring the prison is seriously one of the best surival horror levels I've played in a long time.

The entire time you're engaging enemies from multiple directions, all by yourself, while having to conserve your ammo.
The best part of the whole thing is there don't seem to be all-out infinite zombies in that segment, just a butt-f*** ton of infected you have to take on singlehandedly while making sure to A. Not get yourself trapped, B. Conserve your ammo and C. Not running out of energy.

Directly scariest though, I have to say the run through the blackened out prison with basically only the light of a guard's flashlight to illuminate the way unless you decide to studpidly stop and point your own.

Guys are getting picked off left and right, one guy gets dragged into a vent, the entire time I'm thinking "This is nowhere near as scripted as it might seem to someone else. Those are real fucking infected chasing me."

Fighting is straight-up NOT an option.

As for most annoying, I have to say some of the dream segments annoyed the hell out of me. Grey was the last mod to really freak me in general, especially the first in a long time to do so using the "dreamlike" sequences that now seem common in source horror mods. In comparison, the dream sequences in underhell are nowhere near as freaky even if they seem to try their best. Some of them do feel drawn out.
